If you wonder why I'm scarce around here... just take a look at some of the photos below! We are up to our ears with fresh vegetables and fruit! And I love it! I could turn into a vegetarian this time of year!
This is also when long days spent in a hot kitchen, filling jars and freezer bags with the garden "extras"! By the end of the day, my feet ache and basement shelves groan from the weight of filled jars. But any physical exhaustion is worth it when I gaze at the abundance put away for next winter!
Peaches
Garlic
Onions

Corn
Just a reminder – if you haven't already done so, now is the time to be planting vegetables for fall planting. Pull out your old bedraggled plants that have seen better days and won their retirement in the compost pile. Get in a late planting of beans, peas, carrots, lettuce, or spinach. Set out some cabbage, broccoli, or even zucchini plants! You'll need to carefully keep the young plants watered in the hot weather of late summer (unless you are getting the two inches per week that we seem to be receiving!) but come fall, you'll have a fresh new harvest of good eating!
I have lots more I want to share including some great recipes, but I don't know how much I'll be around this month! If I'm not here, know that I'm out enjoying all this great fresh stuff!
