Introducing "This Month in My Garden"

I often seem to miss the proper time to prune, fertilize, and other common gardening tasks. Last year, an experienced gardener shared a simple solution, keep a calendar with everything you should do that month! I took the advice to heart and tried to diligently record my garden tasks on a simple calendar last year.

If it would be helpful for any of you gardeners, I thought that each month I'd share my garden goals and plans. Of course, those of you in different states may need to adjust your garden tasks to your climate! (I'm in USDA Zone 6, if that means anything to you!) Along the way, I hope to share some of my favorite garden plants, the successes and failures in my garden, what I'm learning, and ways to enjoy your garden with your children. At least, that is my plans now, but I can have big ideas that never get off the ground! Mostly for lack of that little thing we call time!

I know that there are some of you that find it hard to be excited about gardening. I happen to love digging in the dirt but I promise to not try to convert you!

Gardens can also vary. Whether your “garden” is a couple pots on the porch, a massive vegetable patch, dreams in your mind, or somewhere in between, I hope you'll find something helpful! If you've never gardened or had a garden years before I was born, may you find something to inspire! And I hope to learn from you, too! Please feel free to comment if you have any helpful insights, especially if you feel I'm incorrect in any information! I am definitely still learning!
